Olivia's 1st Birthday

We combined Olivia's birthday party with our memorial day BBQ since Dustin had the day off.  We had a few friends over to celebrate.  Even just adding a four kids to our three was pretty crazy in our little place!  But it was fun.  We had a BBQ for lunch and then the party afterwards.

Olivia's cake - a nice simple, girly, flower.  I got the idea from our neighbor Stephanie.

She enjoyed eating it too.  None of our kids have ever dug into their cake very much.

Daniel and Nathan were more than happy to "help" Olivia open her presents!

She loved her balloon!  She would shake it around and grab it and would get so excited.

This cute swim coverup was also a gift from my mom's cousin Linda and her husband Gordon who came to the party later.

We went swimming later after the party with Brett (Dustin's brother) and Kinsey and their kids.

Olivia also loves her new sippy cups.  Except she only likes sipping water out of them.  So funny.  She is particular about things like that.  I can't believe our sweet little princess is already one year old!

California Adventure

We had to use the second half of our twofer passes to Disneyland/California Adventure by the end of May.  We were bummed Cars Land wasn't opened yet.  But it was still fun and probably a lot less crowded than it will be next month after it opens!  The kids loved it.  I guess I forgot to take a picture of the new Little Mermaid ride.  It was one of their favorites (even though they've never seen the movie).  I really liked it too especially since it's one of those rides that never seems to get a line.

The Carousel is always a favorite

The boys love the fishing game at the boardwalk games.  Nathan still sleeps with his lobster every night.

Bug land has the perfect rides for little kids.  Olivia loved it!

We brought food for lunch but had to splurge and buy their expensive food for dinner.  They have a new place with italian food that was really good.

Olivia was excited to see the World of Color show!  We love it!

The kids were tired, but made it till the show and loved it. 

Air Show

We were so excited that they had the airshow here at March Air Reserve Base again this year.  We loved watching the planes practicing and flying around our house as Daniel yelled "That's awesome!"  and "I want one."  He also decided at that point to be a pilot instead of a volcanologist or lego builder (although I think he has reverted back to volcanologist since then).  He and Nathan flew their toys planes around the house every day until the air show.  I have to admit I think those jets are pretty awesome too!  I had never seen an air show until we moved here. 

We loaded up on sunscreen, which unfortunately the boys kept somehow rubbing into their eyes.  As you can see here Nathan especially had a problem with that.  In fact it didn't seem like he enojoyed the show much.  He was just miserable with his eyes hurting the whole time (no matter how many times we washed them with water).  They've never had that problem before but after that day and went and bought no tear sunscreen.

We made sure to bring ear protection, especially for Olivia.  She didn't seem to mind these at all.  Once she had them on she hardly noticed anything going on with the airplanes.   

Daniel just used these earmuffs and his hands.  Nathan wore earplugs like Dustin and I did.

Luckily Nathan and Olivia were still able to get their naps in.  Somehow they slept even through all the loud airplanes flying right over head.

It was an amazing show.  Besides the jet car and some other cool airplanes we got to see the Patriots and all the cool stunts they do.

They also had Robosaurause!  This robotic dinosaur drove around and blew fire. 

He also picked up a car and broke it in half!  Crazy!

Daniel loved the Thunderbirds so we let him get this pin.  Nathan got one too but was too upset for a picture.  They wore them to church the next day on their ties.

Father and Son Campout

The next weekend was the Father and Sons Campout.  It was Daniel's third time going with Dustin and Nathan's first (since they didn't make it last year).  They loved it.

Daniel did have a few sad moments.  He was crying as they left because he realized mom wasn't coming. But of course he was fine once they got there.  Then right before they left to come home the next day he was bit by a red ant!  Poor kid.  That probably really hurt. 

Sleeping in their new sleeping bags.  Nathan had trouble staying in his as you can see.  Dustin said when they woke up the next morning, Nathan sat up and smiled and said, "That was fun!"

Daniel and the rusty metal he found - yuck!  He loves finding that kind of stuff even though I keep telling him he'll have to get a shot if he ever gets scraped or cut with one (he is terrified of shots).
