Other stuff in April

Why do our kids sleep in such funny positions?  This is how I found Daniel one night.  I fixed him so his legs wouldn't hurt in the morning.  On another night I found Nathan on the floor.  He actually falls out of bed quite often now that he's in a toddler bed.  The funny thing is that it never wakes him up!

Nathan learned to ride a two-wheeler with training wheels this month!  He loves it and steers pretty well.

The boys usually get up before us and are supposed to read books or play quietly (the quiet part rarely happens).  One morning they when I came out to see why they were being unusually quiet they had decorated this tree with toys and had decided that day was going to be Christmas again!  it was so cute.  They put up decorations around the house and wrapped up some of their toys to put under the tree. 

Here are some of Daniel's lego creations from this month.  He made these up.  Some from pictures some from his head.  No instructions.  We are amazed everytime.  The first is a jeep.

Our Anniversary in San Diego

For our 7th anniversary we stayed in San Diego for a night without the kids!  It was the first time we've left Olivia over night.  We were going to take her with us but decided we could leave her since she had pretty much weaned herself by then and we had a babysitter we could trust.  We stayed in the Westin Inn which we got for a good deal on priceline.  It was pretty fancy looking.  They were so kind to let us know the night before that we would be waking up to protesters outside.  They were right on time and VERY loud.  At least it got us up so we didn't waste the morning sleeping in.  And I guess we will always remember it!  Here's what the hotel looks like:

The next morning we drove over to Coronado Island to walk around the Hotel del Coronado.  It was a beautiful day to walk along the beach.  Our pictures turned out pretty good considering they were taken with our cell phones since we forgot the camera.

    

  

Then we rented some bikes and rode along Mission Bay (the area by Sea World).  We love that area - quiet and beautiful. 

The last thing we did was sealings at the San Diego temple.  We've tried to keep up the tradition of doing sealings in the temple on our anniversary.  It was nice that it worked out that there was a sealing session just starting when we got there and they needed a few more people.

We got home pretty late, but the kids survived.  Olivia even got used to the babysitter by the time she woke up the morning we were gone.  It was a nice trip for us.

Train Campout

Dustin took Daniel camping at the Train museum just south of where we live.  Daniel of course loved it. They camped inside the museum, so they could walk right up to the trains even after the museum had closed.  Daniel thought that was pretty cool.  Here are the pictures:

This was an old street car they rode in.  Dustin said there was a guy talking about it while it drove and Daniel of course asked more questions than anyone!

He loves this train shirt he got at the gift shop.  He wore it every day (and night) for the first few days until I insisted it had to be washed.



Las Vegas Trip

Las Vegas Trip

April was a very busy month (which is probably why I'm just now posting about it).  We had something big every weekend.  The week after Easter we drove up to Las Vegas to see Dustin's parents who were there for a conference.  We stayed at their timeshare with them.  The kids always love staying at "the hotel" as they call it.


They love helping with the luggage cart.  Looks like all we forgot was the kitchen sink!

We went to the M&M factory.  The boys loved this race car of course.

Every color of M&M you could imagine!  We thought it would be fun to get some colors you don't usually see, but they were way too expensive.

Inside the Bellagio they had the garden area decorated with a Holland theme.  Nathan was mesmerized by the waterfall and Olivia loved the yellow flowers.

It was barely warm enough to swim at the resort when the sun came out for a bit.  The kids tried out the wading pool but we were too chicken to get in the big pool.

So we all ended up swimming in the fun hot tub.  It turned out to be warm instead of hot which was good so the kids could swim in it too.

On Sunday we went to Hoover Dam before we drove home.  We finally got to see the new bridge they had just started to build when we last saw it back when we first moved to California.  Being an Engineer, Dustin was especially excited to see it.
